Prutting & Company recently completed work on a project in upstate New York with Toshiko Mori Architects. This exemplary use of materiality blends the house into its forest surroundings creating a tranquil escape for its inhabitants. Currently, Prutting & Company is working on its third project with Toshiko Mori Architects nearby in Ghent, NY, scheduled to be completed next year.

Recently as part of AIA Portland’s 2011 Architecture + Design Festival, a tour of exceptional Portland Homes was conducted on October 1st. Two of Prutting & Company’s projects were featured on this tour including the Cape Cod House designed by Benjamin Waechter, and the Leedy House, designed by Paul McKean Architecture. The AIA of Connecticut recently announced the winners of the 2011 Design Awards. Among them, the Townhouse located at 173 Park Street designed by Joeb & Partners built by Prutting & Company was recognized as one of the best Single Family Residential Projects. Commissioned by David L. Prutting himself, the custom home showcases the uses of green technology with exquisite detailing in the heart of downtown New Canaan. Also to note, a waterfront house in Westchester, NY designed by Amanda Martocchio, architect of New Canaan with whom Prutting & Company has built several projects, also won an award in this category. Martocchio, currently a client of Prutting & Company, was recently honored in the October 2011 AIA Connecticut Bulletin with a front page article giving her company the “2011 Emerging Architectural Firm Award”. As part of the 2011 Architecture + Design Festival, the American Institute of Architects Portland (AIA) is presenting a tour featuring 6 Portland Homes. 2 of the 6 featured houses have been built by Prutting & Company demonstrating the company’s expertise in contemporary building. Featuring the Cape Cod House designed by Benjamin Waechter, Architect, and the Leedy House by Paul McKean Architecture, each project renovated an existing structure into a modern wonder.
